Okay, the title of this post may be somewhat dramatic , but it very much reflects my feelings yesterday when...I played my first 9 holes of golf.
Rob and I hit the local links across the street ($9.50 for 9 holes, no tee time reservation--gotta love Rexburg) yesterday for our first official golf outing together since we took "lessons" last summer. Neither one of us can hit the ball straight so we knew right off the bat (or club rather), that it may turn out to be a long day. The first hole went okay, but by the second, I couldn't hit the ball further than 50 feet. After hitting the ball about 6 times, I just picked it up, walked to the green and pouted until Rob finished playing the hole the right way. Given my fragile state, we let the cowboys behind us play through while I tried to muster the courage to play 7 more holes. I later revealed to Rob that I almost cried and he said, "Really?" I told him that if hole 3 went like hole 2 then I wanted to go home. He then mentioned that he had mentally prepared himself for a situation such as this. I didn't know if that was really sad, or a good indication that he knows me really well.
To help ease our pain, we played "extreme modified rules". Multiple swings at the same ball didn't count, balls hit out of bounds (street, airport runway) didn't count, and neither did shots that didn't go further than 5 feet. Someday I may have the guts to keep "real" score.
In the end, I stuck with it, switched from woods to irons (as if I knew what I was doing), kept track of my score on about half of the holes (gets to0 depressing to write 15 on the score sheet), and we finished in just under 2 hours. Rob made par on on a par 4, which I think was a first for him, and my best shot of the day was a double bogey, on a par 5 I might add. I'll make sure I keep you posted on my first hole in one.

So, was the double bogey the ACTUAL score? At least you managed not to get frustrated enough to throw your clubs all the while swearing. (I think.)
So glad to see you in the blogging world, make sure you add us to your contacts, and we will be stalking you from time to time.

I love it, don't worry Amanda, I feel your pain. We should golf together sometime. My average score on 9 hole is 10-12. =0) Love ya.

I just stick with putt putt myself! (And I have an hole in one under my belt!!)
You guys keep score??? I find that it takes all the fun out of the game to do that. Try this one on in your "modified rules": one really good shot (that rolls farther than five feet of course)equals a deduction of 3 strokes!
Love this story. While I always loved your updates and pictures of your cute kids, I like this better because I'm already hearing more about you. I am so excited you started a blog! Link me up,
