Parker is 2-0

Parker is two-for-two for barfing at Rexburg ward Christmas parties. Let me give you the back story.

As referenced in a previous post, Parker has an extremely sensitive gag reflex (no mommy kisses, although, fortunately that is not true most of the time). The kid has thrown up every medicine ever administered orally and has barfed at many a meal where something didn't suit his palate. And heaven forbid something gets stuck in his throat. Bye-bye contents.

One time I was helping Marin blow her nose, he caught a glance of the booger and started to gag. Mind you, this was in the car on a long road trip. Fortunately he didn't puke that time. Just the other day Marin peed in her little potty for the first time so we had a brief celebration. Parker took one look at the pee and started to gag. He declined the invite to the rest of the pee-party. And, the funniest one of all was when I asked him to pick up a mac-n-cheese noodle (pre-masticated) that had been smashed into the carpet. He couldn't do it. One look at the smashed noodle and he started to gag. Only then did I start to wonder if this was his way of getting out of things.

Back to the Christmas party. Last year Parker took a taste of a side dish at the Christmas party and relinquished his contents all over the table we were sitting at. It was a short party for us...and for the people next to us. This year it was honey glazed ham. And lucky for Luc Comeau, the remains of the ham ended up on his napkin. Parker is improving though. He quickly gathered up said napkin and threw it away. He enjoyed the remainder of his plain potatoes and the rest of the party is history.

I wonder what will happen next year?

Funny story! Hopefully his gag reflex will get better over time. There are lots of things coming up in life that could trigger it :)

"I give unto men weaknessess that weak things can be made strong"....maybe you guys will be the ones to prove the scripture wrong.

I'd HATE to be the one to do xrays on him at the dental office.

That is so funny! Mason has a pretty sensitive gag reflex as well, not quite as bad as Parker's, but pretty bad. He has gotten much better with time, now he can spit things into a napkin without actually vomiting. Something about cooked onions, peppers, or tomatoes will get him every time. The funny thing is he can eat a ton of fresh salsa, but if any of those same vegetables are stewed, he can't be near them. Anyway, thanks for sharing, that is funny.

My neice has a bad gag reflex too. She once ate an oreo with a post nasal drip, and threw up cremated oreo and snot all over herself in the car. It was pretty much the nastiest thing I've ever seen.
